Website Design

Websites built
to be found.

Custom-coded websites for small businesses and creatives, planned around the words your customers type into Google and the questions they ask AI tools. Anything from a single page to a full site with bookings, galleries and interactive tools.

Why It Matters

Your customers are already searching for you.

84%

of consumers searched online for a local business in the last three months.

72%

look at three businesses or fewer before deciding who to use.

45%

now use ChatGPT or other AI tools to find local business recommendations.

Source: BrightLocal consumer surveys, 2026. Their samples are mainly US consumers, so treat the exact figures as a guide rather than a UK measurement.

Most people make up their minds quickly and from a short list, so the businesses that appear in that first search are the ones that get the call. Social media helps people discover you, but your profile lives on someone else's platform, under their rules. A website is the one place online that belongs to you, and it's where Google, and increasingly AI assistants, go to find out what you do, where you work and whether you're worth recommending.

That last part matters more every year. When ChatGPT searches for local businesses, BrightLocal found that business websites made up 58% of the sources it showed. If your site doesn't clearly explain what you offer, those tools have nothing to point people towards.

The Process

From first conversation to live site.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We talk through your business, who your customers are and what you need the site to do. I look at the businesses you compete with and the words people use when they search for what you offer.

  2. 02

    Structure

I map out the pages, so each service or location has a page that matches what people search for, and plan the content each page needs to answer their questions properly.

  3. 03

    Design

The site is designed around your brand, so it looks and feels like you rather than a template with your logo dropped in. You see it and give feedback before anything is built.

  4. 04

    Build

Every site is hand-coded, which keeps it fast, light and free from the bloat that slows template builders down. It's built to work properly on phones first, because that's where most people will find you.

  5. 05

    Search setup

Before launch, every page is set up for search engines and AI answer tools, from page titles and descriptions to the structured information that tells Google exactly what your business is.

  6. 06

    Launch

Your site goes live, gets submitted to Google, and you get a walkthrough of how everything works, including how enquiries reach you.

Design, build & search setup

AEAN Studios

The site you're on now, designed and hand-coded from scratch. It's built to show the work properly and to do some of the selling for me, with structured data on its pages, an llms.txt file for AI crawlers, Studio Notes articles written to answer the questions clients search for, and a brief tool that turns enquiries into ready-made briefs.

  • Animated construction-grid logo in the hero
  • An interactive 3D bookshelf for book covers
  • Logo construction views drawn from the original grid files
  • A project brief and budget tool with live package estimates

Website, NFC business cards & social media

EMH Northwest

A full website designed and built from scratch for a North West building firm, with a dedicated page for each service the business wants to be found for: extensions, garage conversions, outbuildings and pointing. The site is set up for local search, and Google Ads conversion tracking shows which ads are bringing in real enquiries.

The website is one part of the work. I also designed EMH's business cards with NFC tap built in, and I create and run its social media pages, so the website, the cards and the socials all work together as one presence.

  • Website designed and coded from scratch
  • Service pages built around local searches
  • Google Ads conversion tracking
  • NFC tap-enabled business cards
  • Social media pages created and managed

What I Can Build

Whatever your site needs to do.

Start with a single page and add what you need. A few of the things I can build in:

Questions

Before you ask.

How much does a website cost?

A simple single-page website starts at £200. Extra pages and features such as galleries, bookings, online selling or interactive tools are quoted on top, depending on what the site needs to do. You can get an estimate in about two minutes using the project brief tool.

What does the price include?

The price covers the design and code of your website. Your domain name, hosting and any paid third-party tools, such as booking or payment services, are separate costs, and I explain each one before work starts so there are no surprises.

Can you guarantee my website will rank first on Google?

No, and nobody can honestly promise that. What I can do is build every page so search engines and AI tools can read, understand and trust it, which gives your business the best possible footing in the searches your customers make.

Can my website take bookings or payments?

Yes. Bookings and payments are handled through established services such as Cal.com and Stripe, built into your site, so card details never pass through the website itself. Those services charge their own fees, which I'll explain up front.
